Junji Ito is a Japanese horror mangaka who has been drawing and writing manga since 1987. His works are often horrifying and disturbing in a completely unique way, combining meticulous detail with horrifying body horror to make these visceral, truly disturbing pieces.
Ito's main inspirations include: Kazuo Umezu, Hideshi Hino, Shinichi Koga, Yasutaka Tsutsui, Edogawa Ranpo and H. P. Lovecraft, all of whom influence his themes, imagery, and style. He has created a long list of manga, all wildly different but horrific in their own ways, from the existential dread of Uzumaki, to the chilling charms of Tomie.
I myself have been a huge fan of Ito's work for several years now, and he continues to impress me with his imaginative and stunning works.
